The Alliance pro Ethanol for Infection Prevention was launched in June 2020. The Alliance is composed of the full members, BODE Chemie GmbH, B. Braun, Dr. Schumacher GmbH and Schülke & Mayr GmbH, as well as one associate member, the German Industrial Association for Hygiene and Surface Protection (IHO).
The aim of the ApEI is to ensure the highest possible level of infection control in Germany and the EU. Therefore, the ApEI advocates for the long-term and unrestricted use of ethanol-based disinfectants in the EU. To ensure the effective protection against infections, the ApEI demands that ethanol is not classified and labeled as CMR.
